Aerogel Insulation

Aerogel was originally developed by NASA in the late 1990s to protect astronauts from the cold of open space while still maintaining mobility inside their spacesuits. 

Aerogel is far lighter, more flexible, and transfers less heat than any other insulating fabric made by any company on Earth. It’s simply the finest insulation ever devised by man.


Today we use the Aerogel technology to keep your feet warm down to -13° F / -25°C while the weight of the boots is the lightest in this insulation class.

The weight of Aerogel is just 50 grams per square meter and has the same thermal insulation properties as insulation of 800 gr/m2. This superb weight to efficiency ratio makes Alpha Aerogel boots at least 20% lighter and less bulky than any on the market. 

And that's not all...

The Aerogel thermal insulation is bi-directional which means that in hot days it insulates your feet from heat. This doesn't mean that your feet will be chilled but at least you will feel the temperature in your boots comfortable as when using waterproof boots without insulation.

Dryhunt® Membrane

The Dryhunt® nanoporous hydrophobic waterproof membrane is a mouthful, but here’s what it means:

This innovative membrane is hundreds of times more breathable than the world-leading brand membrane GTX. It repels water at the same time, giving you exceptional breathability AND dry, comfortable feet. 
 


Breathability

Dryhunt® has unmatched breathability that allows the moisture from your feet to be transported outside of the boots much faster and efficiently. The nanoporous air-permeable technology performs hundreds of times better than the moisture vapor transmission technology. Other hunting boots can leave you with damp, sticky feet by the end of the day, but Dryhunt® provides the very best balance of breathability and waterproofness.

Waterproofness

 The industry standard for waterproof protection level is 1.6 inches ( 4 cm ) above the board of the boots. Hillman destroys that standard by providing a boot that stays waterproof when you step into water 5 inches (12 cm) deep! That’s over 3X the depth, so you can move through muddy terrain, marshes, or even along riverbanks and never get your feet wet. 



Hillman boots are tested with water under pressure to ensure that every single stitch and seam of the interior is going to keep water from getting in. Your feet are the only thing getting into your Hillman boots!

On the inside, you get to enjoy comfort with every step thanks to the shock-proof EVA midsole.
The insole with the H-Flex heel stabilization system additionally cushions impact and provides superior weight load while reducing the vibration in every step.

The laces are made of stainless steel wire consists of 49 strands and are practically unbreakable. The excellent resistance needed for optimal tightening requires a thicker stainless steel wire (0.8-0.9 mm) than other systems. No way can you break it. The steel wire is coated with plastic reinforcement to prevent friction against the shoes and protect your feet and keep them comfortable.

The reel knob is engineered by a brand-new technology that is much simpler than other competitive products and with fewer weak points.
